Subject: Public Power Week - October 1-7, 2000

"It's that time of the year again - time to celebrate the 14th year of Public Power Week, and time to thank each and every one of you for your dedication and hard work, your commitment to quality customer service, and your contributions to the success of our Department.

"It is also time to announce the Department's new, official name - "Burbank Water and Power." Thanks to the employees and the citizens who responded to our recent survey for a possible name change, Burbank Water and Power was selected by an overwhelming majority. During this time of electric utility restructuring, it is more important than ever to move forward with an identifiable and descriptive name for our Department, one that more accurately reflects what we do and the basic services we provide. The Burbank Water and Power title would also be consistent with other municipal utilities in the area such as Glendale Water and Power. The design for a new logo is also underway which will ultimately be used in conjunction with our new name on uniforms, trucks, vehicles, and communication materials.

"Again, thank you for all that you do on a daily basis, and for making it possible to offer our customers competitive rates, safe and reliable electricity, and top-notch service."
