SENIOR ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER FLOR PAGADOR

On Monday, May 17th, Senior Animal Control Officer/BCEA Member, Flor Pagador passed away from complications of open heart surgery performed earlier that day. He was 49 years old.

Flor was a native of the Philippines and graduated from high school in Manila. He earned his degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of the Philippines in 1984. Flor immigrated to the United States in 1985. He worked as a veterinary assistant to Dr. Jaime Velasco at the Magnolia Veterinary Clinic until he was hired by the Burbank Police Department as an Animal Control Officer in 1987. He was promoted to Senior Animal Control Officer in August of 2003.

Flor brought a wealth of skill and knowledge to the Animal Shelter. He was compassionate, gentle, and caring of all animals. Flor was quick with a smile or a hug and was loved by all who knew him and worked with him. He is survived by his wife Cielly.

Viewing began Monday, May 24th and ends on Friday, May 28th, each night from 4:00 to 9:00 PM. It will be held at the San Fernando Mission, 11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills. Take the N/B I-5 Fwy to the W/B 118. Exit Sepulveda and turn right. The cemetery will be on the right hand side.

The funeral service is Saturday, May 29th, 9:00 AM, at St. John Baptist De La Salle, 10738 Havenhurst Ave., in Granada Hills. After the service, there will be a procession to the San Fernando Mission Cemetery.


HENRY "HANK" SARTORIS

Henry "Hank Sartoris, a 30 year veteran of the Burbank Police Department died on April 24, 2004, at the age of 89.

Sartoris was born on January 27, 1915, in Canon City, CO.

He came to California on an athletic scholarship from Loyola University, where he played football and basketball.

He graduated in 1938 with a bachelor's degree in history. After graduation, he worked at Paramount Studios. During World War II, he worked in the San Pedro shipyard.

He joined the Burbank Police Department in 1945 as a patrolman which was then represented by the Burbank City Employees Association. In 1946, Sartoris was on the BCEA's bowling league representing the Police Department. He then became a detective in 1954.

In 1975, Sartoris retired from the department. He played fast-pitch softball for the city leagues in Burbank and coached many years for the Police Athletic League, a youth softball program sponsored by the Police Department.

He served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Burbank City Employees Federal Credit Union from 1970 to 1998 and was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He and his wife were married for 64 years.

Hank is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Jim Sartoris; daughters, Joan Gerard and Nancy Baldino; seven grandchildren, Tracee Baldino, Joey Baldino, Lisa Sartoris Magley, Nick Sartoris, Steven Sartoris, Christy Allen, and Jim Gerard; and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Magley.
