Effective July 1, 2003, Professional and Supervisory employees as identified on Exhibit M shall be eligible for Professional Development reimbursement and not Wellness reimbursement for expenses under the following terms and conditions.
The City shall contribute up to two hundred twenty five dollars ($225) reimbursement annually to each full time employee with ten (10) or more years of service. It is agreed by the parties that part-time employees will be eligible to receive up to $112.50 reimbursement annually and are defined for the purposes of this section as those employees working between 20 and 39 hours a week.
Purchases above the limit may be carried over into subsequent year.
Employees entitled to Professional Development shall be entitled to reimbursement each fiscal year for professional development purposes in any of the following categories:
Non-required professional conferences;
Dues for unbudgeted professional and/or civil associations;
Professional journals;
Unbudgeted personal development training sessions, conferences, or seminars;
Comprehensive physical not reimbursed by personal medical coverage and other non-covered or non-reimbursable medical costs for the employee;
Supervised physical development, including such expenditures as fees for health club membership;
Personal liability insurance for acts arising out of the scope of employment;
Computer software, provided the software has a demonstrable connection to the employee's work product;
Wellness, including video tapes for exercise purposes only;
Exercise equipment typically found in a health club or gym (free weights, weight machines, treadmills, exercise bikes, etc.) kayaks and bicycles;
Additional activities as approved by the City Manager.
Requests for reimbursement shall be submitted on a Professional Development Request Form to the Management Services Department - Benefits Section describing the nature of the expenditure. The taxable nature of items covered in this section will comply with current IRS rules.
