Sick leave shall not be considered as a right which an employee may use at his or her discretion. Sick leave is intended to provide protection against loss of earnings due to illness or injury, illness in the immediate family or for medical or dental appointments. Sick leave shall be granted by a Department Manager if an employee is disabled from a job incurred injury after exhausting his or her industrial accident leave.
