Employees are eligible for one personal leave day with pay, during the fiscal year.
The purpose of personal leave is to provide employees with time throughout the year to take care of personal business that may arise.
Total personal leave hours are available for use at the beginning of each fiscal year.
Employees who are not in a pay status at the beginning of each fiscal year (not including FMLA or CFRA time) will have their personal leave hours pro-rated in accordance with Table 1 in this Section upon their return to a paid status.
The following table defines the amount of personal leave hours an employee may receive.

Employees hired during the year will receive personal leave in accordance with the preceding schedule, as it corresponds to the number of projected work hours remaining in that fiscal year.
Personal leave does not accumulate from fiscal year to fiscal year.
The employee is not required to state any reason for utilizing personal leave.
Personal leave must be taken in increments of no less than two hours unless a small increment is approved at the discretion of the supervisor, upon request by the employee.
Personal leave shall be granted only upon prior request and approval of the division head and/or department manager.
