Dental Special Open Enrollment & Plan Changes

We will be having a Special Open Enrollment to allow people to add on to the Pacific Union Dental PPO plan. We need to meet the minimum enrollment or the PPO plan will close. We decided to make improvements to the benefits by increasing maximums from $1,000 to $1,500, lower co-pay deductibles for most benefits, and the addition of an Orthodontia benefit to the PPO - a small increase in premiums and a large increase in benefits. The new plan is on the top right corner of the enclosed comparison sheet. The new PPO option is open to anyone in our Pacific Union Dental Napa and Imperial plans. Any employee not currently carrying Dental insurance may also enroll. Dates, time and sites for enrollment will be at the same time as the BCS enrollments discussed below. Pacific Union Dental PPO - $35.42 1 Party 100%-50% in network - $69.60 2 Party 80%-50% out of network - $94.23 3+ Party Orthodontia $1,500 Lifetime Max.

President's Message by Robert A. Kaczmarek - President

First, let me apologize for the miscalculation I made computing the survey raise. I used dollars budgeted for our increases in PERS and Medicare tax as part of our salary pool dollars. That was about $70,000 that had to be deducted. Those monies are a product of any salary raises for our group. Therefore, we had to lower the salary to fit within the the 3.5% budget of our package. That makes the value of our raises $999,000 and $1,200,000 for the whole package.

In any future adjustments I will request IT to run a salary adjustment report to avoid any more errors like this.

The payroll division is working nights and weekends to the BCEA retroactive checks. Our group is the largest and has the highest percentage of manual calculations. The estimate for receiving retroactive checks is March. Keep up the good work Joy, Trish, Rumina, Susan, Kelli, Germaine, and Mary Joe.

Supplemental Insurance

Benefits Consulting Services (BCS) as our benefits provider will be at work sites around the City with guaranteed issue disability and life insurance. No physical is necessary during this period. Don't forget to sign the beneficiary card for your free $1,000 life insurance if you haven't already. Dates, time and sites for BCS and Pacific Union Dental enrollments will be posted in your work areas as well as on this site late next week.

BCEA Picnic

The Picnic for 2003 is scheduled for May 17, 2003, at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The Recreation Committee will be planning the menu and other details. I would like to thank them in advance for all of their times and effort on the Picnic.
