PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - ROBERT A. KACZMAREK
We continue to meet with the City on our contract negotiations. One issue that has taken a great deal of time is the salary parity survey. After three years, there is a lot of data to check and recheck to make an accurate survey. Numerous other issues have been discussed and the process if moving forward.
The BCEA, IBEW, and the BMA have met regularly on the joint retirement issues. We all agreed with the City to upgrade to Level IV 1959 survivors benefits. We are waiting on a response from the City Council and Dan Cassidy on our proposals. We will have more information at the membership meeting scheduled for October 3, 2002, at 5:30pm, at the Central Library.
PEBT INSURANCE
The BCEA is again offering insurance through the Public Employees Benefit Trust. Our table was very busy at the health fair. This year we have added Health Net HMO, Nealth Net PPO, and PacificCase HMO plans. Continuing for next year is Blue Shield HMO, Kaiser, and Universal Care. We are not offering the Blue Shield PPO plans for next year. The pricing was not competitive so we will switch to Health Net for our PPO plan.

BCEA BCS PACIFIC UNION DENTAL
New this year - the BCEA is offering three dental plans. The Napa and Imperial prepaid plans have better benefits and very good pricing compared to Delta PMI. The PPO plan matches Blue Cross benefits with lower premiums. We will have sign up days at locations around the City as soon as we can schedule them.
