Dr. DeWayne Wolfer has been a Burbank Police Reserve Officer for the past 18 years. During these 18 years, he has donated thousands of hours to the Burbank Police Department and the City. Though you might think he spends all of his time at the Police Department, his real career is as a Dentist.
On May 16th, DeWayne was seriously injured in an explosion at the Burbank Police Range while he was on-duty. DeWayne received second and third degree burns over approximately 33% of his body. DeWayne has been in the Grossman Burn Center since the accident. It is anticipated that he will remain hospitalized for at least another two to four weeks.
During his hospitalization, DeWayne's dental hygienist and office manager are trying to keep his dental practice open. One way everyone could help DeWayne out, is to make an appointment with his hygienist to get his or her teeth cleaned. The cost of a cleaning is $75. His office is located at 3875 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 504, Los Angeles, between Highland and Western. To make an appointment, call Barbara at 213-380-4409.
The Burbank Police Officers' Association has also set up a special account with the Catastrophic Injury and Illness (CII) Fund, so that donations can be accepted on behalf of the Wolfer family. 100% of all the donations made will go directly to the Wolfers. Make checks payable to the BPOA CII Fund and write "Wolfer" in the memo portion of the check. Checks should be sent to the Burbank Police Department, Attention:BPOA.
